Running Xstarter on a VPS

Postby dsudries » Wed May 13, 2009 4:49 am

Good morning,

I actually run Xstarter on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) with Windows Server 2003.

My tasks are perfectly well executed expect for one that is not executed when I am not logged on the VPS.

This task is a "SendKeys" instruction that allows me to execute a "File -- Connect -- Connection A" sent to a specified window.

This task works when I am connected to the VPS (I can see with my eyes the execution) but is not executed if I close or minimise my remote control window on my own PC.

Do you have any idea to resolve that problem?

Do I miss something simple?

Is there another way to execute a "File -- Connect -- Connection" command without using a "Sendkeys" instruction?

Thank you a lot for your help.

Kind Regards,
DS

As I can see there are exist only one way how to solve this problem. You need to login to your VPS account not via RDP, but via VNC or RAdmin. This remote administration tools does not open some user connection, they are connecting to "console" user. So, even if you will close VNC window "console" user session will stay open and xStarter must works well in this case.
